F-A-S-T

F-Face Drooping (Ask the smile to smile, is their smile uneven?)

A-Arm Weakness (Ask the person to raise both arms?)

S-Speech difficulty (Slurred speech?, Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence, are they able to repeat it correctly?)

T-Time to call 082-911 (Tell the EMS staff: “I think this person is having a stroke”, time makes a huge difference)

 

Other signs to be alert of:

 

  1. Difficulty mobilizing, loss of balance and coordination, dizziness
  2. Sudden severe headache with no known cause
  3. Impaired vision in one or both eyes
  4. Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech
  5. Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, leg
